Michelle Blake, Board Co-Chair

Michelle, a native of Marin County, earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She co-founded Provident Funding Associates, a nationwide mortgage lending company, and currently serves as Chief Accounting Officer. Michelle is passionate about volunteering, lending her financial expertise to nonprofits across the region. As Co-Chair of the Board, she is energized by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the youth served by Boys & Girls Clubs.

Sarah Hehman, Board Co-Chair

Sarah is an experienced editor and writer with more than 20 years of professional experience in finance, business, retail, and educational publishing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Classics from Wheaton College, Massachusetts, and has edited content across digital platforms and print media. Sarah’s connection to Boys & Girls Clubs began during the COVID-19 pandemic when she led a Summer Camp scholarship fundraising campaign. Her dedication to equity in education inspires her continued work with the Clubs, where she is passionate about opening doors for at-risk youth and ensuring every child has a chance to succeed.

Celia King, Treasurer

Celia brings 25 years of banking expertise, currently serving as a VP-Commercial Loan Officer for Poppy Bank, where she specializes in commercial lending. Her strengths include business development, relationship management, financial analysis, and commercial real estate. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Dominican University, Celia is passionate about giving back to her community, particularly by empowering youth. Since joining Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin in 2021, she has been dedicated to leveraging her financial acumen to support the organization’s mission and make a lasting impact on future generations.

Cory McCormick, Secretary

Cory has spent 25 years building commercial projects in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Sonoma County, but it’s his passion for community service that led him to Boys & Girls Clubs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from California State University, Chico, and enjoys coaching and mentoring youth. When he’s not working or volunteering, Cory loves skiing and spending time outdoors with his family. He is an elder at the Cove Church, and as a Boys & Girls Clubs Board Member, he’s excited to help create opportunities for local kids to thrive.

Michelle Durgy*

Michelle has over 25 years of experience in investment management and debt issuance strategies. As a Partner at KCM Investment Advisors, she previously served as Chief Investment Officer for the City and County of San Francisco. Michelle is an Advisory Board Member for the United Nations Global Sustainability Index and holds a master’s degree of Public Policy from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine. Michelle’s introduction to Boys & Girls Clubs, and inspiration to join our Board, came at the annual Crab Feed, where she was deeply moved by the impact on local children. She’s been dedicated ever since to serving youth in Sonoma and Marin counties.

Parke Hafner*

Parke has called Sonoma County home for over 40 years, raising a family while working in his family’s vineyard and winery. Giving back to the community has always been a core value, and Parke has been involved with Boys & Girls Clubs since the early 2000s. His dedication to helping the Healdsburg Club thrive led him to join the Board, where he continues to raise awareness and resources to support the next generation of local youth.

Tom Hinde*

Tom is one of California’s leading wine industry experts, with over three decades of experience in vineyard cultivation, winery management, and artisan winemaking. His leadership roles have spanned prestigious brands such as Kendall-Jackson and Flowers Vineyard and Winery. A former Club Kid in Ohio, Tom got involved with Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin as a way to give back to his community and support the next generation reach their full potential.

Jennifer Weiss, Chief Executive Officer

Jennifer has 30 years of executive leadership experience with Boys & Girls Clubs in Sonoma County and San Francisco. Jennifer has a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. She is passionate about leading with high expectations of excellence and maximizing every opportunity to change the lives of community youth. Jennifer has grown our organization from 3 locations to 40, from serving 300 youth annually to 10,000. Additionally, Jennifer has been a marketing leader at Gap, Inc. and an executive in Sales and Marketing for Shea Homes.

Philanthropy derives from Ancient Greek, meaning “to love people”. Philanthropy is the act of donating money, goods, services, time and/or effort to support a socially beneficial cause, with a defined objective and with no financial or material reward to the donor. In a more general sense, philanthropy may encompass any altruistic activity intended to promote good or improve human quality of life.

Our service as Board Members is a rich form of philanthropy. Not only are we giving generously of our financial resources, we are also investing our time and our business and personal relationships to further enhance the lives of youth.

Unlike many boards, we are not measuring our participation by the number of hours or committees, or even specifically the amount of dollars raised, but rather the overall, long-term impact of our time & resources invested.

We are passionate about youth and specifically believe that investing in the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs, its staff, and programs are the wisest investment we can make toward impacting the future of our communities. Our service to the Club is our most significant volunteer commitment and certainly falls within our top 3 volunteer relationships.
